I am a young, entrepreneurial-minded technology lover, passionate for helping others develop a successful online business. Whether you are fresh out the gate or have been running a local business for many years, I can help you establish yourself online. Forget about thinking in or out of the box; just test life-long assumptions, leverage awesome technology, and live the best life possible.
Where to start. At a very young age I realized that I marched to a different drummer than most. After high school and University, employers seemed to view this non-conformity and my desire to question and challenge anything that didn’t make sense to me as a bad thing. Bouncing around from decent job to decent job I soon realized that being told to do something because “it’s always been done like this” just wasn’t for me. I knew there was more to life than grinding out the 9 to 5 work day for 40 years just to try to enjoy life at 65 while managing to live off of whatever was left over.
This is when I started minding my own business. My online business that is.
So what have I done? I have a Bachelors of Commerce from Dalhousie University where I double majored in Marketing Management and Marketing Logistics, after spending two years studying Computer Science. I currently co-own a Canadian web hosting company, Websavers Hosting. I recently started a web design company in Halifax called Grape Kiwi that provides small and local businesses with the easiest and most affordable website solution possible. I am also actively consulting with businesses regarding Internet marketing and search engine optimization. Along the way, I had the opportunity to work and consult with a few tech startups, including a data centre provider, a managed VPS and Dedicated server company, and a local home networking company.
I’ve been making a living online since 2009, shortly after my graduation from Dalhousie. I’ll admit it wasn’t easy, and some days it was downright depressing. But over the span of a couple years, I successfully turned a hobby into a business that actually pays me, started actively consulting with several businesses in a variety of industries for which I help with their online presence, and have been developing and building a variety of side projects and businesses that are beginning to take form.
I consider myself a jack of all trades and I love learning and researching new things – especially surrounding the business world. I write mainly about web-based business and Internet marketing, but also touch on personal and professional development. Okay, and some times the odd tangent that catches my attention.
If you are in the Halifax, Nova Scotia area I can often be found buzzing around the city meeting with local businesses or downing enough coffee to kill a small child at Starbucks. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch or connect with me on my Google+ profile if you want to meet up for a drink and a chat.
